In case you guys haven't noticed I like slide shows. It is the easiest way to show a ton of pictures. Molly was a wonderful photographer on our trip so I hope you enjoy the show. This might be repeat for all those that read Molly's blog ... so don't hate me. You should probably just read Molly's any way. She is way more on top of things, updates regularly and is really funny.
So just a week ago the twins and mother Eve packed our bags for a fun filled weekend in the BIG APPLE. My mom and I were flying Jet Blue out of Long Beach and Molly was going to meet us at JFK airport flying in from San Francisco. Since I work just down the street from my parents we decided to go out for sushi right before we took off for the airport. I took my parents to my favorite sushi place in Huntington Beach. The food was good as always but I wasn't that hungry so I only had a little bit. The day before, when I was packing, I asked Jeff if he had any Ambien (a sleeping drug) so I could sleep on the red-eye. Right when my dad dropped my mom and I off at the airport I decided to take the Ambien. I thought that it would take a while to get into my system so it would be smart to take it early on. Right after I checked my bag my mom asked me a simple question and I couldn't even answer her. The drug already started working and all I remember saying was, "from here on out, it is going down hill." I had trouble walking, keeping my eyes open, and pretty much everything else that required coordination. I don't even remember showing my ID, talking my shoes off or even going through security. All I remembered was sitting down and my mom saying watch my stuff I am going to the bathroom. Right then Dennis Rodman walked by ... I thought I was delusional but that actually happened. When my mom got back our flight was boarding. However, at that point it was a challenge to just open my eyes. I felt nauseous making that small of an effort. So imagine how sick I felt standing up and walking outside to the plane. Luckily, at Long Beach Airport boarding the plane is simply walking outside and up a ramp. Except when you are dopped up on Ambien!! Right as I walked outside my mom was pulling on my arm to get me to start up the ramp. I wouldn't move ... and then it happened. I THREW UP and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN all over the tarmac. Every one boarding the plane had to walk right by me and you know WHAT!! So embarassing. A few of the flight attendants just happen to be standing right there and weren't sure they wanted me on the flight. I hurried on the plane and washed as much as I could off my face, pants, and shoes. What a way to start out the trip. The Ambien was long gone somewhere on the tarmac so I didn't sleep a wink on the flight and smelled like sushi.
Six hours later, we made it to JFK and found a taxi to take us into the city. I don't know what it is about taxi drivers but THEY STINK AT DRIVING. They have a miserable job of fighting traffic all day long so I have decided they want to make the passengers just as miserable. He tapped his foot on and off the gas the whole way there which I think is a scheme to raise the price of the fare. Our final destination was on 40th st. between 6th and 7th avenue. However, I decided to jump out of the moving taxi a few blocks before to enjoy another round of throwing up. I should have taught the taxi driver a lesson and stuck my head through the partition that separates the front and back seats to unload on him. Instead, I was considerate to all except the passerbys watching me throw up behind a beautiful topiary on the sidewalk. What was funny was no one seemed to mind or even give a double take that I was doing my business right in the middle of the sidewalk. Got to love New Yorkers.
